I can’t even begin to collect my thoughts after the horror I’ve witnessed this week, but I wanted to somehow chronicle what we’ve all been going through after the largest natural disaster New York has ever seen. By the grace of God, may we never experience anything like this again.
First and foremost, I’m thankful that my family and friends are all safe, and pray for those who weren’t as lucky when Hurricane Sandy unleashed her havoc on us. For the first time in two days, I’m actually seeing TV images and stories about the devastation and it’s just surreal. Until now, Facebook has been my lifeline to the world, as it was for many of us who used up precious gas in our cars to charge up our smart phones and try our best to stay connected to loved ones.
Driving past some of the nearby neighborhoods today as I left my still-powerless home to stay with people who had electricity restored was even more heartbreaking. Damage, destruction, downed trees, and water everywhere. And I can only imagine the horror that lies down those impassable roads. Tomorrow, I’ll be going through my closets and pantry to take some things over to the local shelter because I have to do something. We all do.

And don’t forget to pray…
